Community Conversation: FEMA Flood Map Changes to Benefit Flood Insurance Rates

Exploring the “LOMR" Process – Letter of Map Revision for FEMA Flood Map Changes to Benefit Flood Insurance Rates
Event Date:
Tuesday, February 23, 2021 - 5:30pm
Via Zoom and Live on Facebook
Join Town officials and members of the Vinalhaven Sea Level Rise Committee in a Conversation with coastal engineer Nathan Dill of Ransom Engineering to discuss the process and necessary costs associated with revising FEMA Flood Maps in order to reduce flood insurance rates.

In 2014, FEMA revised their flood maps, resulting in a redesignation of flood zones for many Vinalhaven properties and a subsequent increase in flood insurance rates. Ransom has provided the Town with a proposal to conduct a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for various locations around the island. The Town invites property owners and community members to attend this event and learn more about the LOMR process and associated costs.

Please register in advance to join the conversation via Zoom.
You do not need to register to view the event LIVE on the Town Facebook Homepage.
